ASP 2017 “Love in Action”- Youth Mission Trip
The MUMC ASP Team traveled to Brenton West Virginia the week of June 12. The 15-member team worked on 3 properties where residents needed some construction upgrades to their homes to make them warmer, safer and drier. One team repaired a porch that was causing leaks into the main residence, another team installed main floor supports leveling a floor that had sagged for years and the third team removed a damaged floor in a mobile home and replaced the floor with new laminate. Another important aspect of the trip was the MUMC adult chaperones did a great job mentoring and interacting with the youthful missionaries during this trip. And finally all our missionaries interacted well with the families in which they were assigned to help. A little more insight on our trip can be found by reading Matthew 25-46 and 1 John 3:18.
Thank you to those mission team members for giving up a week of their time to do God’s Work in Appalachia, Hanna Dilday, Ryan Arnold, Kyle Coffman, Trinity Staley, Ethan Staley, Miriam Staley, Erin Van Winkle, Cassidy Stewart, Daniel Glover, Les Dilday, Bill Glover, Gail Stewart, Lexie Froidcouer, Beth Froidcouer and Marlin Hartman
Back to School Fair
This mission outreach, coordinated by Catholic Charities, provides a one-stop event of health and human services for low income families in Will County as they prepare for the beginning of the school year. Included in the services are the provisions of school supplies, immunizations, physicals, vision screening and information on family services. Minooka United Methodist Church has been blessed to be able to donate a portion of school supplies each summer from our church family to support this worthwhile mission.
Each fall the churches in the Channahon-Minooka area join together and walk to collect money to fight hunger both locally and globally. Of the monies raised, 75% goes for the international relief and development effort of Church World Service; 25% stays in the area for the support of our local food pantries. We have been involved with Cropwalk for over 30 years.
For more information, visit the Channahon Crop Walk web page.
The college basket ministry was initiated to remind our church members who attend college that they are not forgotten and are supported with a variety of items that makes college life more bearable. This is done each spring and fall. This ministry is supported by our Spirit Committee. Thanks!
